Philosophical Foundations of Artificial Intelligence

At Roma Tre University, the Chair contributes to teaching across undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels, with particular focus on the ethical, legal, and philosophical dimensions of artificial intelligence. Prof. Mario De Caro’s teaching activities span courses at Roma Tre, at Tufts University, and in international Master’s programmes on the philosophy of AI.

AI Ethics, Law & Public Policy
At the University of Macerata, the Chair contributes to interdisciplinary training on the ethics and governance of digital technologies at doctoral, postgraduate, and Master’s level, within the Department of Political Sciences, Communication and International Relations.
DOCTORAL PROGRAMME
Ph.D. in Politics, Society, Technology (PST)
An interdisciplinary and international doctoral programme investigating the interplay between technology, politics, and society. Two of its research areas focus on AI ethics and governance, digital media, and the transformations of the global order. Directed by Prof. Benedetta Giovanola.
POSTGRADUATE COURSE
EDTED — Digital Ethics, Law and Technologies
Risk Dimensions of Artificial Intelligence
Jointly promoted by the University of Macerata and the Marche Polytechnic University, part of the activities of the Jean Monnet Chair EDIT. The course trains professionals capable of integrating technological expertise with ethical and legal awareness, in line with the standards emerging from the EU AI Act.
